Now when I ordered these our pool was in perfect working order, however by the time I got them our pump had went down in the pool and it rained for days making getting to use them very difficult. Our new pump arrived and we are now in business. I was excited to get these as I was facing the problems listed above. I got thirsty and either my drink was outside the pool or out of my reach and it made enjoying the sun just a bit difficult. When they arrived I immediately opened them and was pleasantly surprised there were 12 of these. Enough drink holders for the whole family plus some. These will be great when we are hosting pool parties for the kids. There are 6 palm trees and 6 pink flamingos.
We inflated the drink holders and placed a can of Coke in the hole. Be sure you push the drink all the way down into the opening for proper balancing. Surprisingly the palm trees did better than the flamingos at staying upright. We had to adjust the can in the flamingo a couple times to get it to stay upright, but after playing with it a minute it did a fantastic job. We laid out in the pool one day, just one because we ended up getting rain for days after we got them. But I must say it was really nice having your drink nearby and not having to leave the pool to get a drink. Seems it stayed colder as well. We didn't have a lot of kids in the pool splashing around, only still waters, so I'm not sure how it would work out if the water was moving around. The palm tree did get in front of the moving waters of the pump and it did stay afloat and upright.
One day however I did have my grandson in the pool. We didn't bring any drinks outside, but he did enjoy the bright colors of both the tree and the flamingo and enjoyed playing with them while he swam. He is 2 years old and we are trying to teach him how to swim, so we would back up with one of the holders and he would swim toward it. So it is sort of in its own way a teaching aid.
I also used the palm trees at a boy baby shower to hold mints and I plan to use the flamingos at a girl baby shower next month. The holes are perfect for holding a nice amount of mints and look awesome as decorations. The boys theme was jungle and the girls theme will be the sea and mermaids so both items will fit perfectly sitting on the tables for decorations. There is more than one use for these awesome floats.
